Alicia Perry's Whiskey Sour

Ingredients

  • 1 oz
    Elijah Craig Small Batch

    or other small batch bourbon

  • 1 oz
    Rittenhouse Rye Bottled-in-Bond

    Rittenhouse Straight Rye preferred

  • 0.75 oz
    Lemon Juice
  • 0.75 oz
    Cane Syrup

    1:1 cane sugar to water simple syrup

  • 1 whole
    Egg White
  • 2 dashes
    Aromatic

    Angostura bitters, dashed decoratively over foam

  • 1 whole
    Lemon Twist

    expressed

    Expressed over the drink from a distance, then discarded

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a shaker tin and dry-shake vigorously without ice until the seal begins to loosen. Open the shaker, add large-format cubed ice, and shake again firmly to chill without overdiluting. Strain into a chilled coupe and allow the drink to settle briefly. Hold a lemon twist at a distance above the surface and express the oils over the cocktail, then discard the twist. Finish with a minimal decorative dash of Angostura bitters across the foam.
